Introducing Timelanes

Most timelines are built once, in a slide, and are wrong within a month. Timelanes was built to fix that: a place to assemble a chronology, keep every event tied to its source, and publish it somewhere people can actually use it.

What it does

Timelanes lets you build a timeline as a piece of living research rather than a static graphic. Events carry their sources. Lanes let you run parallel threads side by side — a company's product releases against its funding rounds, say, or a legal matter against the news cycle around it. When the picture changes, you update the lane instead of rebuilding the slide.

Finished timelines publish as a link or embed straight into a site, so the work stays in one place instead of being screenshotted into a deck.

Who it is for

It started from a simple observation: researchers, analysts, journalists and legal teams all keep rebuilding the same artefact by hand. Anyone whose argument depends on what happened, in what order, and how do we know is doing this work already — usually in a spreadsheet nobody else can read.
